County Councils

Cavan, Leitrim, Longford and Roscommon county councils are responsible for the delivery of a wide range of services including the provision of infrastructure services that are necessary to the physical, economic, social and cultural life of the County. Councils also play a significant part in supporting economic development and enterprise at a local level.

The County Councils perform both a representational and operational role, in accordance with the Irish system of Local Government, which encompasses both democratic representation and public administration.

Bord na Móna

bord na mona logoOver 80 years ago, Bord na Móna was established to develop Ireland’s peat resources for the economic benefit of Ireland. This peat was used to generate electricity for Irish towns and village. It generated jobs and built communities.

Today Bord na Mona has a strong focus on sustainability and about building a future where Bord na Móna is a profitable company that is committed to protecting the environment. Bord na Mona has always had strong links in the communities they serve going back generations and their sustainability agenda is deeply invested in creating the brightest possible future for communities.

ESB

esb logoElectricity Supply Board (ESB) was established in 1927 as a statutory corporation in the Republic of Ireland under the Electricity (Supply) Act 1927. With a holding of 95%, ESB is majority owned by the Irish Government with the remaining 5% held by the trustees of an Employee Share Ownership Plan.

As a strong, diversified, vertically integrated utility, ESB operates right across the electricity market: from generation, through transmission and distribution to supply. In addition, ESB extracts further value at certain points along this chain: supplying gas, using our networks to carry fibre for telecommunications, developing electric vehicle public charging infrastructure and more.

ESB’s mission is to bring sustainable and competitive energy solutions to all customers and their vision is to be Ireland’s foremost energy company competing successfully in the all-island market.
